‘Superman’: New Video Goes BTS of James Gunn’s New Film!! Check It Out!!

As the world celebrates Superman Day today, which marks 87 years of one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, DC has delivered another in-depth look behind the scenes at James Gunn’s upcoming tentpole. Superman has been set for release on July 25, and it will see David Corenswet officially take over the role of The Man of Steel in live-action from Henry Cavill, who suited up as the character several times in Zack Snyder’s DCEU. This new behind-the-scenes featurette shows Corenswet alongside other stars such as Rachel Brosnahan, Frank Grillo, and Nicholas Hoult all talk about their time on set and reveal new details about their characters. They also express their confidence in James Gunn to deliver a movie that will usher in a new era for DC.

Fans have already had a taste of the DCU with Creature Commandos, which introduced characters like Rick Flag Sr. (Grillo) and Clayface, who will be seen again in live-action. However, Superman is the main course that aims to bring fans on board for the long haul and kick off what will be a chain of stories structured similarly to the MCU. James Gunn wrote and directed Superman, which will mark his second DC feature film after helming The Suicide Squad. Gunn’s take on TSS was such a hit that it warranted a Peacemaker spin-off that brought back John Cena. Peacemaker also continued the run of hits, and will return with Season 2 later this year as the first project after Superman. It remains to be seen which DCU project James Gunn will direct next.

Who Else Stars in ‘Superman’?

In addition to Corenswet, Brosnahan, Grillo, and Hoult, Anthony Carrigan will also star in Superman as Metamorpho, and the new sneak peek shows the best look at his character in the film yet. Wendell Pierce will also take over the role of Perry White from Laurence Fishburne, with Isabela Merced (The Last of Us, Alien: Romulus) making her debut as Hawkgirl. Nathan Fillion will even star as Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, and he’ll also reprise that role in the upcoming Lanterns series that’s currently in production. Skyler Gisondo will be seen as Jimmy Olsen, and Pruitt Taylor Vince will play Clark’s father, Jonathan.
