Netflix has unveiled the first behind-the-scenes still of Greta Lee and Wagner Moura in Louis Leterrier’s latest film, 11817. The sci-fi horror flick centers around a family trapped inside their own house in mysterious circumstances. While Leterrier is well known for action features like Fast X and Transporter movies, it’ll be interesting for his fans to delve into his take on a horror story.
The new image sees Lee and Moura on the set, the production design hints that it’s Christmas time, while we see the actors lost in a discussion about their scene. While the image doesn’t reveal much, it’s an indicator of how this normal household will soon go through terrors unknown. Speaking of the two leads, Leterrier said, “Greta Lee and Wagner Moura have delivered rich, dynamic, and captivating performances throughout their brilliant careers. Their charisma and talent shine through the screen.” Also starring are Gabriel Barbosa, Noah Alexander Sosnowski, Emma Ho, and Riley Chung.
What’s ‘11817’ About?
The movie follows a family of four, who are stuck in their home with no way of getting out. As if that wasn’t enough, their resources are running thin, and they must work together to survive, “not only a lack of essentials but also the mysterious, looming threat that is keeping them trapped inside.” While we all thoroughly understand the horrors of getting stuck at home with supplies running low, the reveal of who or what is keeping them at home should make up the “sci-fi” part of the story. Leterrier further explains,
“11817 challenges the idea of a safe haven, turning a family home into a hostile environment where survival demands unity. This is an ordinary family’s worst nightmare, pushing them to their limits to protect each other and exposing the fragility of security — and the desperate fight to reclaim it.”
Leterrier directs from a script by Matthew Robinson, whose previous work includes Love and Monsters, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, and more. Leterrier is booked and busy as he is also currently attached to direct the final film in the Fast & Furious franchise, which remains in development. Lee is well known for her leading role in Past Lives, she’ll also be seen in Tron: Ares, which recently released a kick ass trailer, Late Fame and more. Moura is well known for Narcos, Elite Squad, among others. He’ll be next seen in features like The Secret Agent, Say Her Name, The Last Day, among others.
