Tom Cruise is holding on tight — literally and figuratively — in the exclusive new 4DX poster for Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning. Collider is thrilled to debut the stunning new poster ahead of the film’s release, showcasing Cruise’s Ethan Hunt once again risking life and limb for our entertainment. And what better way to experience the insanity than in the multi-sensory blast of 4DX? Tickets for the movie are now officially on sale, so you can grab your seats for the film, which promises to be the ultimate high-stakes farewell for the thirty-year-long franchise, opens exclusively in theaters (including IMAX and 4DX formats) on May 23, 2025.

The poster highlights Cruise doing what only Cruise would dare: clinging to the wing of an aircraft flying 8,000 feet above the ground — no green screen, no tricks, just Cruise being Cruise. In behind-the-scenes footage released by Paramount, we’ve already seen the actor strapped in with just a single safety cable as the plane soars through the sky. Why not, right? The weather looked nice. We’d all do the same.

Director Christopher McQuarrie broke down just how punishing the experience was: “You can’t imagine how physically punishing it was for Tom to be on the wing. The wind distorts your vision. It’s almost impossible to breathe.”

Simon Pegg, who returns as Benji Dunn, also captured the spirit of Cruise’s fearless devotion while speaking to Collider: “Tom doesn’t do most of his stunts, he does ALL of his stunts. Our mantra has always been, the stunts are real. When you hand over to a stunt performer, the moment ceases to be about character and becomes all about the stunt. Tom and McQ know that those moments will become so much more impactful if it’s the actor in peril because the character remains present at all times.”

What Is ‘The Final Reckoning’ About?

While the plot remains mostly under wraps, the official synopsis is hinting at an emotional ride: “Our lives are the sum of our choices. Tom Cruise is Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.” Co-written by the movie’s director McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, and produced by McQuarrie and Cruise themselves, the movie is obviously going to deliver action on an entirely new level — and if the teasers so far are anything to go by, probably several new levels beyond that.
