The production of The Witcher Season 5 is rolling with Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. While we are still waiting on the fourth season of the series, which will bring forth Hemsworth as the titular character, the fifth season will mark the final installment of the long-running series. Despite Henry Cavill’s shocking departure from the fan-favorite role, many fans are intrigued to see the Hunger Games star’s turn as the iconic character. Some new set images show him fittingly transforming into Geralt.
The new images and there are a lot of them sees Hemsworth in full costume and long blonde hair, complete with Geralt’s sword Aerondight at his back. While some other images show him going up against a bunch of men, along with his own group. The new set of images also gives us a good look at the cast, including Eamon Farren as Cahir, Laurence Fishburne as Emiel Regis, Meng’er Zhang as Milva, and Joey Batey as Jaskier. The images come weeks after Fishburne told Collider’s Steve Weintraub about the progress of the show, saying, “[Regarding] The Witcher, folks are going to have to just be patient with us. We’re starting Season 5 now. I will start when I leave here today. I go and I start filming.”
‘The Witcher’ Seasons 4 and 5 will be “Lore Accurate”
One of the main criticisms of the series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is that it deviated from the original books, which did not sit well with the fans. However, producer Tomek Baginski previously assured fans the upcoming season will be more “lore accurate. It’s very close to what was set out in the books and I think this change will be quite flawless.”
Along with the aforementioned cast also returning for the next season are Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Batey as Jaskier, Bart Edwards as Emhyr van Emreis, and Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz of Roggeveen along with many new faces. It has been a long wait for The Witcher fans, but given the peak we get in the new set images and comments from the cast and crew, the upcoming seasons sound promising and worth the wait. Currently, no release date for Season 4 has been announced, though it is expected to hit Netflix sometime this year.
Meanwhile, all previous seasons of The Witcher are streaming on Netflix in the U.S.
