‘Welcome to Wrexham’ Season 4 Trailer Sees Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney Continue Their Dream Run!! Check It Out!!

Through three seasons on FX so far, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have helped steer Wrexham AFC to some formerly unthinkable heights. The third-oldest professional football club in the world has overcome the competition time and again to earn two successive promotions and become the incredible underdog story the pair had dreamed of. The question, then, is, can they achieve the three-peat? FX shared a new trailer for Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 that sees the Welsh club take on some of its fiercest opponents yet in pursuit of accomplishing a feat the English Football Club has never seen before — earning three successive promotions and reaching the EFL Championship.

The footage immediately previews one of the toughest opponents Wrexham will be dealing with in the upcoming season in Birmingham FC, who have their own celebrity minority owner in NFL legend Tom Brady. The Deadpool & Wolverine star is thankful that the seven-time Super Bowl champion won’t be taking the field against them, but his presence highlights how the next turn on this “roller coaster of magic” will come with the hardest challenges, highest stakes, and loftiest expectations the club has faced thus far. Even the Wrexham players aren’t entirely certain they can keep the streak going, with one person saying, “Realistically, we’ll lose.” One thing the team does have in its favor, however, is the energy from the community and the hunger for something greater. It’s a “not friendly” competition at times that has “a nasty habit of kicking you in the bollocks,” but the high pressure may also bring out the best in the team and those around it as it continues its quest for football glory.

Amid the fiery matches, brawls, and off-field pressures, the Red Dragons will be surrounded by a few new celebrity faces this time around. Alongside Brady, Reynolds brought in Gambit himself, Channing Tatum, to experience the energy firsthand. Local celebrity Wayne Jones, owner of The Turf pub that has been so intertwined with the history of the team, will also feature heavily, as always, too, as he gets a spotlight in the trailer. They’ll look to keep the same heart and hustle alive after the first three seasons established the documentary series as one of FX‘s biggest hits, with a 94% score from critics and a 91% mark from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

‘Welcome to Wrexham’ Season 4 Leads the Charge for FX’s Upcoming Programs

Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 will begin to heat things up for FX as it prepares for some big releases this year. Later in May, the network will debut its new ensemble comedy Adults, featuring a group of five friends, played by Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao, and Owen Thiele, who live together and are navigating the early trials and tribulations of the adult world. New seasons of The Bear and McElhenney‘s long-running comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia are also in line for the summer, but perhaps the biggest new show, however, will be the hotly-anticipated Alien: Earth, Noah Hawley‘s terrestrial addition to the sci-fi horror franchise that pits humanity directly against the Xenomorph when a vessel crash-lands on the planet in the year 2120.

Before all of that, Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 will take the pitch on May 15. Check out the trailer in the player above.
