‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’: Adrianne Palicki Confirms Plans for Movie Appearance!!

One star from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series just revealed new details about what her future as a Marvel star was supposed to look like. Adrianne Palicki stars in Seasons 2 and 3 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Bobbi Morse, also known as Mockingbird. Palicki’s character was written out of the series in the third season to prepare for a spin-off series that never came to fruition. Palicki recently sat down with The Direct to talk about her new project, The Salamander King, and she revealed that her role as Mockingbird was supposed to be for much more than just two seasons in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.:

The conversation I had when I signed on actually to ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ was either that I was going to be participating in the films or have a spin-off.

Palicki also spoke about the planned spin-off that she even filmed scenes for, as well as what led to ABC killing other shows like Agent Carter while simultaneously deciding not to move forward with any spin-offs or movies:

And we did a spin-off that we shot, which is actually great, but I think it was at the time where ABC was literally getting rid of all of their Marvel shows. Like, ‘Agent Carter’ got taken off the air, our show didn’t get picked up, ‘Agents of SHIELD’ was on the verge of syndication, so it stayed on.”

This was a complicated time for Marvel fans trying to follow all the stories going on at once. While the MCU was moving forward towards its major event films with supreme unity, there were other projects like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter in the ABC universe to contend with, and the connections to the larger universe were always rather murky. There was also the Marvel Defender verse happening over on Netflix around the same time, but it wasn’t shy about boasting its lack of connectivity from the rest of the MCU. This has since been walked back now that Disney has acquired the rights to characters like Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal).

Who Else Stars in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’?

Clark Gregg leads the Marvel series as Phil Coulson, returning even after he was seemingly killed by Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in The Avengers. Starring alongside Gregg in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is Ming-Na Wen, who has also gone on to become a major figure in the Star Wars universe thanks to her role as Fennec Shand. Chloe Bennet is famous for her role as Quake in the Marvel series, with other names such as Brett Dalton and Iain De Caestecker starring as well. There is no word on when or if members of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will ever make their MCU debut, but after Marvel took a pass on introducing them in Secret Invasion, the chances of seeing them again become less likely by the day.

All episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are currently streaming on Disney+.
