The next season of The Bear just got a major update from its showrunner. It’s been nearly a year since The Bear Season 3 premiered all 10 episodes of Season 3 on Hulu, and while it finished as the lowest-rated season of the series according to Rotten Tomatoes, that didn’t stop FX and Hulu from swiftly moving forward with a Season 4. News on the fourth season have been quiet for a while now, but showrunner Joanna Calo recently delivered the update fans have been waiting for. Calo caught up with Omelete on the red carpet for Thunderbolts*, and she confirmed that the show will debut on Hulu on June 15. Calo wrote the script for Thunderbolts* along with Marvel veteran Eric Pearson.
This news also comes not long after it was confirmed that The Bear star Jeremy Allen White will play a buff Rotta the Hutt (Son of Jabba) in The Mandalorian and Grogu, the Star Wars film coming to theaters next May. White is a two-time Emmy winner for his work on the series, and he’s also known for starring as Lip Gallagher in Shameless and Kerry Von Erich in The Iron Claw. Starring alongside White in The Bear is another Emmy winner, Ayo Edebiri, who recently teamed up with John Malkovich for the A24 film, Opus. She’s also known for her work on Inside Out 2. Another Emmy Award-winning star from The Bear is Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who will make his MCU debut this summer in the major tentpole The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Liza Colón-Zayas, Lionel Boyce, Abby Elliott, and Mathew Matheson also star in The Bear.
What Is the Highest-Rated Season of ‘The Bear’?
According to critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the highest-rated season of The Bear is Season 1, which earned a perfect 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Following behind is Season 2 at 99%, but there was a slight dip in Season 3, which fell to 89%. However, this is still a “certified fresh” rating that most shows would be thrilled with. General audience reception for The Bear tells a much different story — the first two seasons earned a score of 92% from audiences, but Season 3 dipped to a startling 51%. Many fans argued that Season 3 moved too far away from Carmy and the restaurant business while focusing too much on other characters.
The Bear Season 4 will premiere on June 15.
