James Gunn just revealed a new look at one of the heroes from Superman. The filmmaker has shared a behind-the-scenes image featuring himself and Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi). The character is present in the narrative because it has been established that Clark Kent (David Corenswet) won’t be the only hero running around Metropolis. Different corporations have hired heroes to wear their name while they save people, and Mister Terrific is one of these public figures. Superman will be different from all of them by working alone and wearing his family’s emblem instead of a company’s name.
Superman will follow Clark Kent as he balances his life as a journalist for the Daily Planet and his life as the last son of Krypton. The hero will develop a complicated relationship with Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), his most iconic rival from the pages of DC Comics. This version of the Man of Steel will be introduced in a world that is already filled with heroes. This summer’s blockbuster will also be focused on the romantic relationship between the titular character and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). After working together at the Daily Planet for some time, the two will explore the romantic feelings that developed due to their friendship.
Before being cast as the powerful Mister Terrific, Edi Gathegi appeared in Dev Ayesa in For All Mankind. The performer has impressed audiences with his work on the science fiction drama that focuses on a hypothetical space race that never ended. It’s time for Edi Gathegi to focus on a different kind of outer space, thanks to his role in the new DC Universe. Time will tell if Mister Terrific will be an ally to Superman, or if the fact that he works for someone else turns him into a threat to the Man of Steel.
Welcome to Metropolis
James Gunn has assembled a very talented cast to welcome audiences to the DC Universe he’s building alongside Peter Safran. Nathan Fillion will appear in the blockbuster as Guy Gardner. The Green Lanterns Corp will function as an authority across the galaxy, before Fillion reprises his role in the Lanterns television series. Anthony Carrigan has been cast as Metamorpho. The character has the ability to transmute elements into his body. The stage has been set for a new franchise to steal the spotlight on the big screen, as Warner Bros. attempts to hook audiences on their DC characters once again.
Superman flies into theaters on July 11.
