Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) will soon resume their European voyage as a new teaser for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 has revealed a fall release window. Unveiled during the Season 2 premiere of Dead City last night, the teaser shows the resilient duo back on the road, continuing their arduous journey towards the Commonwealth. After facing and surviving fresh threats in France in Season 2, the pair completed The Book of Carol arc. Season 3 will see their post-apocalyptic odyssey take another unexpected turn as they somehow find themselves in Spain, despite initially setting a course for England.
Though brief, the teaser offers a glimpse at new potential allies and enemies for Daryl and Carol. It opens with a haggard Daryl staggering alone across a desert landscape which is obviously in Spain. “I was pretty young when all this started,” he says in a voiceover. “Now, what we do is run and fight. There’s no way to win it.” That grim sentiment cuts to a short burst of action as Daryl engages in a joust-like duel with someone, but rather than on horseback, the pair charge towards each other on motorcycles, shotgun in hand. A shot is fired, but the teaser leaves it unclear who takes the hit.
The Season 2 finale saw Daryl and Carol heading for the Channel Tunnel, aiming to reach England and eventually cross the Atlantic back to America. The teaser confirms they made it to England, at least briefly, as a scene shows them in a boat near Tower Bridge alongside a new character played by Stephen Merchant. However, as teased in the season logline, their trip will suffer a setback as they instead end up in Spain.
How Did Daryl and Carol End In Spain In ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ Season 3?
Daryl and Carol’s unexpected arrival in Spain is a puzzle that only the show can solve when it premieres. However, executive producer David Zabel recently explained that a natural disaster is to blame for the change in the Chunnel’s route. “There’s a big earthquake and the Chunnel now goes to Spain,” said Zabel. “It’s a circuitous route. It’s not a direct path, but that’s part of what’s great about the opening of season 3, is seeing that journey that gets them there. And it doesn’t go straight to Spain. It’s a very cool adventure that somehow gets them from inside the tunnel to Spain.”
Alongside Merchant, whose character details aren’t yet clear, Daryl Dixon Season 3 will also welcome a new cast, including Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay in series regular roles. The cast is further fleshed out by Candela Saitta, Hugo Arbués, Greta Fernández, Gonzalo Bouza, Hada Nieto, Yassmine Othman, and Cuco Usín.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in the Fall. Check out the new teaser above and stay locked in for future updates.
