‘Harlan Coben’s Final Twist’: Popular Mystery Writer to Host New True Crime Series at CBS!!

Harlan Coben has established himself as one of the world’s bestselling mystery and thriller novelists, and his books have been adapted into countless original series via a massive deal with Netflix. But now, Coben is preparing to take on something new: the author will host an unscripted true-crime series called Harlan Coben’s Final Twist for CBS as part of the network’s new slate of shows.

Not that many details about the upcoming series have been released. However, it has been revealed that Final Twist will feature hour-long episodes, hosted by Coben, that take viewers “through gripping tales of murder, high-profile crimes and life-altering surprises, each meticulously unraveled to reveal hidden truths, deceptions and lies,” according to a synopsis from CBS. “With exclusive interviews and never-before-seen archival materials, the series will provide an in-depth look at stories where nothing is as it seems.”

Given that it is an unscripted show, Final Twist hasn’t had any cast revealed. The series will come from Coben’s Final Twist Productions, All Rise Films, Triage Entertainment, and See It Now Studios. Jeff Zimbalist will serve as the series showrunner as well as an executive producer. Coben and Ben Coben executive produce for Final Twist alongside Stu Schreiberg for Triage, Susan Zirinsky and Terence Wrong for See It Now, and Jess Philipps.

Coben Is a Master Storyteller

It’s no surprise that Coben would want to jump into the world of unscripted, as his scripted series, based on his books, have become a cultural phenomenon. His novels alone have sold more than 90 million copies, and many of them have been adapted for Hollywood. His massive Netflix deal in 2018 opened the door for his adaptations to be created into TV shows and miniseries in many different languages. Some of the most popular ones include English-language shows like Fool Me Once, Missing You, The Stranger, and Stay Close.

Other hit Coben novels adapted for Netflix include the recently released Spanish-language show Caught, the Polish-language show Just One Look, and the French-language show Gone for Good. He isn’t done with the Netflix adaptations, either, as Coben has two more English-language adaptations in the works: I Will Find You starring Sam Worthington and Britt Lower, and Run Away starring James Nesbitt and Minnie Driver.

An exact release date for Final Twist hasn’t been revealed. Coben‘s most recent English-language adaptation, Missing You, is streaming now on Netflix.
