‘Maxton Hall’ Season 2: Prime Video Celebrates Anniversary With New Images!! Check It Out!!

It may be hard to believe that it’s been a year since Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten) and James Beaufort (Damian Hardung) went from enemies to lovers. After an impressive series debut last May, becoming the most successful international original series in Prime Video‘s history, Maxton Hall — The World Between Us is gearing up towards its Season 2 release with new images and a behind-the-scenes look. Based on the best-selling book triology by German author Mona Kasten, the show follows a scholarship student who falls for her rich classmate, after the latter tries to stop her from revealing a family secret.

Although the series wrapped months ago, Prime Video is making the wait time for Season 2 quite the slow burn. Maxton Hall was renewed soon after Season 1 dropped on the streaming platform, with the cameras beginning to roll in June of last year. The cast were seen wearing their boarding school attire when announcing that they were back on set, which only made fans of the show become even more excited to see where Ruby and James’ forbidden romance is headed, especially after Season 1 left off on a cliffhanger. Hardung also teased that his character will have “a really dark” storyline in the upcoming episodes, which could pose a threat to the main couple’s rekindling.

According to Prime Video, here is the official synopsis for Season 2:

“Those who fly high can also fall low… After their passionate night together in Oxford and her greatest life goal within reach, everything seems to be going perfectly for Ruby. But a stroke of fate in James’ family changes everything and James himself, of all people, brings her back from cloud nine to a harsh reality. Ruby is devastated. She has never had such strong feelings for anyone as she does for James – and she has never been so hurt by anyone either. She wants her old life back, where no one at Maxton Hall knew her and she wasn’t part of the elitist world of her classmates. But she can’t forget James – especially since he’s doing everything he can to win her back.”

As revealed in the sneak above, Herbig-Matten and Hardung will reprise their roles as Ruby and James. Sonja Weißer will return as James’ sister Lydia and Fedja van Huêt will be back as Mortimer Beaufort, who will certainly try to get in the way of the main couple’s relationship. Season 2’s cast will also include Ben Felipe as Cyril, Runa Greiner as Ember, Justus Riesner as Alistair, Andrea Guo as Lin, Frederic Balonier as Kieran, and Eli Riccardi as Elaine.
