Marvel Studios has been ramping up promotion for its next Disney+ series in the form of new images and featurettes, and now its next project just got its most exciting look yet. After debuting a special sneak peek at the series yesterday, narrated by executive producer Ryan Coogler, Marvel has officially released the first trailer for Ironheart. The upcoming series is led by Dominique Thorne and will premiere its first three episodes on June 24. Ironheart will see Riri Williams, who first debuted in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, have to use her wits to take down The Hood (Anthony Ramos), a villain who is in many ways impervious to her impressive technological arsenal. The series will also star Oppenheimer and Solo: A Star Wars Story veteran Alden Ehrenreich.
Riri Williams was a major player in one of Marvel’s biggest tentpoles of the Multiverse Saga with the second Black Panther movie, but her involvement in the MCU’s future remains unclear. When Marvel Studios announced the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, Thorne was not given a chair, but several of her Wakanda Forever co-stars were. Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía will all star as Shuri, M’Baku, and Namor, but it has yet to be confirmed if Thorne’s Ironheart will suit up and take the fight to Doctor Doom. Given that Doom will now be portrayed by former Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr., someone whom Riri Williams is certainly familiar with, it would make sense for her character to appear in Doomsday. However, things are being kept under such heavy wraps that her status likely won’t be known until much closer to the film’s release.
What Other Marvel Disney+ Series Are Coming This Year?
Marvel has already released new seasons of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ this year, both shows that are expected to return with second seasons in the near future. Ironheart is next up on the slate, coming on June 24, and Eyes of Wakanda will follow behind on August 6. After Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel will continue its animation trend with Marvel Zombies, which will debut on October 3. Wonder Man is confirmed to come sometime at the end of this year, but the show is still lacking an official date.
The first three episodes of Ironheart will premiere on Disney+ on June 24.
