The Antler Queen lives on. A month ago, Yellowjackets wrapped Season 3 and left many questions in fans’ minds. Fortunately, Showtime has decided that we need to continue following the soccer team for another season — the show is officially renewed for Season 4. The release window for the new episodes is yet to be announced.
Even though no show is 100% safe these days, the Yellowjackets renewal doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The Season 3 finale “Full Circle” was the show’s most-watched episode ever according to Paramount+, with 3 million viewers. The streaming platform also announced that the latest season of the thriller series ranks among the most watched so far, suggesting that fans are more curious than ever to find out what the heck is going on in the wilderness and what secrets the girls and women are still hiding. The series’ Rotten Tomatoes score, however, suggests that, despite the curiosity, fans are not too happy with some of the show’s decisions.
In an official statement, Co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios Chris McCarthy praised the series’ blend of horror, mystery, and drama that makes pretty much every episode a must-watch:
“’Yellowjackets’ has become a cultural juggernaut, with season three shattering all previous records – we are thrilled to announce its renewal for a Season Four on Paramount+. Ashley [Lyle] and Bart [Nickerson] have masterfully crafted an utterly singular, genre-defying phenomenon— a perfect alchemy of psychological horror, survival thriller, and coming-of-age drama that continues to captivate audiences worldwide, brought to life by our extraordinarily talented and beloved cast.”
Who Is Returning For ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 4?
It’s a little early to name the full main cast of the new season of Yellowjackets, but it’s safe to say that main cast members Melanie Lynskey (The Last of Us), Christina Ricci (Wednesday), and Tawny Cypress (Heroes) will be seen again in the new episodes. The same can be said for their teen versions, played by Sophie Nélisse (Two Women), Samantha Hanratty (Shameless), and Jasmin Savoy Brown (Scream VI). We can also expect to see Courtney Eaton (Parachute), Liv Hewson (For Worse), and Kevin Alves (Locke & Key).
Other names that have to be officially announced but are likely to return start with Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby), who debuted in Season 3 as the adult version of Melissa (played by Jenna Burgess in the teen version) and will have to return after killing adult Van (Lauren Ambrose). Shauna’s daughter Callie (Sarah Desjardins) really grew in Season 3, as well as teen Akilah (Nia Sondaya), so they are also bound to return for new episodes.
