‘Psychic Sam’: Mark Millar is Setting Up a Brand-New Comic Book & Movie Adaptation!!

It’s been 15 years since Kick-Ass hit theaters, and now the creators of the comic book on which the film is based are reuniting. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. will team up for a new comic book, Psychic Sam, which follows a guy with a big gun who goes out and solves problems.” Millar mentioned that the main character hears voices in his head telling him to kill bad guys, but the problem is, the bad guys haven’t done anything yet. It’s also been announced that the duo is developing a feature film of Psychic Sam, with The Gentlemen producer Ivan Atkinson attached to produce. Psychic Sam will be the first project for Millar not under the Netflix banner since he struck a deal with the streamer in 2017.

Very few details are known about the project at this time, including potential casting, a writer, or a director. However, Millar has found success in the past with other titles such as Wanted and Kingsman, so it wouldn’t be stunning to see Psychic Sam make it to the big screen without too many issues. It’s important to note that Matthew Vaughn helmed both Kick-Ass and the Kingsman movies for Millar, and after most recently directing Argylle, it’s unclear what he’s working on at this time. He could be one of the names Millar and Romita Jr. are eying to direct Psychic Sam, but there has been no official word of this yet. Romita Jr. is also known for his work writing Marvel Comics like Civil War, which are part of what inspired the MCU.

Where Are Mark Millar’s Movies Streaming?

Kick-Ass is currently not available to watch on any of the major streaming services, but it can be watched on MovieSphere via Lionsgate and Plex. Its sequel, Kick-Ass 2, is currently only available to rent or purchase on Prime Video. Both films star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular character. As for the Kingsman movies, all three installments can be watched on Hulu. The first two star Taron Egerton in the lead role of Eggsy, and the most recent film, which actually serves as a prequel, was led by recent Oscar-nominee Ralph Fiennes.

A comic book about Psychic Sam will be released long before the feature film makes it to the big screen.
