Regardless of who wants it, we’re getting it. Netflix has officially announced that the romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, will return later this year for Season 2. Netflix revealed the October 23 premiere date at the FYSEE LA Emmy Event, celebrating Season 1. The announcement came with a video from the cast asking questions to a special Nobody Wants This-themed magic eight-ball with Bell, Brody, Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Jackie Tohn. Questions like “will we have another iconic kiss this season?” and “Will Morgan find love this season?” and finally “What’s happening on October 23?” and that’s when the cast reveals that Season 2 releases that day.

Season 1 of Nobody Wants This saw incredible success right up front, spending 6 weeks in Netflix’s Global English Top 10 TV List. It also landed in the Top 10 in 89 countries. From the time it hit the streamer in September of last year to the end of 2024, it was viewed more than 57 million times. The series boasts a 95% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and a similarly positive 85% audience score from the review aggregator website.

What Is ‘Nobody Wants This?’

The Netflix romantic comedy series follows an agnostic podcast host, Joanne (Bell), and an unconventional rabbi (Brody) who meet at a party, of all places. As the unlikely pair continues to get to know one another, there’s a wonder if all of their differences, especially their outlooks on life/religion, could mean they’d never work long term. There are also the obstacles that come with dating in the 21st Century, as well as meddling family members. Collider’s Isabelle Soares called the series “the ideal escapist rom-com watch. It focuses on an alternate look at the opposites-attract trope, bringing forth the hardships of dating someone of a completely different background and belief system.” The series is based partially on creator Erin Foster‘s real-life experiences and allows audiences the space to both escape and re-examine their own lives and their own outlooks on love and their image of an ideal partner, what dealbreakers are actually dealbreakers? What is the most important thing for a long-term relationship, and not just short-term compatibility?
