This summer is going to be a fun time to be a horror fan as the likes of M3GAN 2.0 and I Know What You Did Last Summer will be lighting up the box office. However, June also holds the year’s only “Friday the 13th”. On top of that, 2025 marks the 45th anniversary of the Friday the 13th franchise. While there’s no new film to celebrate and A24’s Crystal Lake series for Peacock is a ways off, that doesn’t mean we can’t party hard for Jason Voorhees. Paramount Scares and Bloody Disgusting are throwing the ultimate Friday the 13th event this month that fans aren’t going to want to miss.
The Friday the 13th anniversary event will be held at Street Food Cinema (SFC) in Los Angeles, California. Of course, on Friday, June 13th. This is a part of LA’s largest outdoor cinema series. While there will be a screening of the original 1980 classic that started it all, there will also be themed photo ops, swag giveaways, a spooky marketplace, interactive horror trivia and more. In addition to that, there will be food trucks with a full bar to satisfy any horror fan’s desires, as well as live music from DJ Splyce. However, arguably the best part is that the chilling event will be hosted by James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca of the popular Dead Meat horror-branded YouTube channel. This will be a one-night-only event with the doors opening at 8 PM and the scream-worthy festivities starting at 10 PM. General admission tickets will be $25 USD and VIP tickets are $40. The latter includes early admission with stadium chair seating in the reserved section.
Jason Will Soon Return to Crystal Lake
From 1980 to 2009, Jason Voorhees terrorized the slasher sub-genre with 12 feature films. This included extreme highs like Part VI: Jason Lives, watery lows like Jason X and underrated gems like Part III and Part VII: The New Blood. However, because of the rights lawsuit between Friday the 13th’s original writer Victor Miller and director Sean S. Cunningham, there hasn’t been a new entry in the franchise in over 15 years. The series has been ironically stuck on its 13th entry.
All joking aside, it does appear that this dispute has been settled with Crystal Lake soon to be making fans scream at home. The series was in its own form of development hell for some time. A change of showrunners caused a reset, but it’s back on track and in pre-production. This Peacock prequel show will follow a young Mrs. Voorhees, who will be played by genre veteran Linda Cardellini (Scooby-Doo). Also, separate from the series, the franchise will live on with Jason Universe. This will be a new shared-universe experience that will be covered across films, merchandise and video games.
Return to Crystal Lake if You Dare

The address for the screening is 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles, California at the Autry Museum in Griffith Park. While we all wait for Jason’s next major iteration, there’s no better way to spend a Friday the 13th than by revisiting the revenge story the first spilled blood in Crystal Lake’s cursed water.
