‘Care Bears’: Josh Greenbaum Reportedly Set to Direct Feature for Warner Bros.!!

The entertainment industry’s focus on nostalgia-related projects will continue with Care Bears. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is set to develop a movie based on the adorable characters first introduced through greeting cards decades ago. The Care Bears went on to star in their own television series, cementing their place in the hearts of the audience. The studio that brought Barbie to life through Greta Gerwig‘s blockbuster will attempt to give a new spin to the fluffy bears that have generated millions of dollars through merchandise.

Josh Greenbaum was hired by Warner Bros. to direct the upcoming Care Bears movie. Before he was recruited to work on the feature based on the popular animated bears, Greenbaum worked on the development of Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. The comedy starring Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo was met with critical acclaim when it was released during the pandemic. No writer has been attached to the upcoming Care Bears project, meaning that it might be a while before it makes its debut in theaters.

Care Bears will be the latest effort from Warner Bros. to connect with the youngest members of the audience. In the middle of an entertainment landscape in which Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4 dominate the global box office, Warner Bros. is getting ready to expand Dr. Seuss’ legacy with a slate of animated films. The Cat in the Hat will feature Bill Hader as the voice of the titular character. After that, Care Bears will attempt to ensure that Warner Bros. remains competitive in the market for young viewers.

Who Are the ‘Care Bears’?

The Care Bears were introduced in 1981 through greeting cards sold by American Greetings. Through a wide variety of paintings, the characters became popular enough to earn their own television series in 1985. Back when Transformers and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were gaining plenty of popularity, the Care Bears were trying to earn their place in the entertainment industry. The Care Bears Movie was also produced in order for viewers to become more aware of the property.

While the Care Bears have been away from the spotlight for many years, Warner Bros. is feeling confident about the movie due to properties such as Masters of the Universe and Hot Wheels aiming to gain new popularity with upcoming major projects. One of the last stories that featured the Bears was Care Bears: Unlock the Magic, an animated series produced by Cartoon Network. Time will tell if the adorable characters will be able to dominate the box office in the near future.

A release date for the Care Bears movie hasn’t been announced by Warner Bros.
