‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’: Tom Felton Is Returning to the World of Wizarding!!

Tom Felton has not Disapparated from the world of Harry Potter as he will be returning to the franchise that gave him his claim to fame. The HBO reboot of the franchise is in full swing, but that isn’t the property that the Draco Malfoy actor will be appearing in next. Felton will be joining the stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. He will once again take on the role of Harry’s (Daniel Radcliffe) childhood nemesis, Draco Malfoy, this time as an adult.

Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Felton said in a statement via TODAY. “Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in ‘Cursed Child’ this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.

The last time Felton portrayed the former Death Eater was in Deathly Hallows: Part 2, in the divisive epilogue of the books. The actor and the rest of the cast were aged up to portray parents of children heading off to Hogwarts, but as Felton stated, now he really will be that age in the somewhat canonical sequel to the Harry Potter franchise.

‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ Follows the Next Generation

Thus far, Tom Felton has been the only original cast member to reprise his role after the conclusion of Harry Potter in 2011. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child follows Harry’s unfortunately named child, Albus Severus, who becomes cohorts with Draco’s son, Scorpius. Draco is featured in the play, as Felton further commented.

It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes — and of course his iconic platinum blond hair — and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child subverts the expectations of the next generation as Albus gets sorted into Slytherin, where he befriends Scorpius. The stage show gives a different perspective on the famously ambitious house as Scorpius and Albus form a true bond, similar to the original Gold Trio. With intrigue, magic, and a bit of time travel, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child sets itself apart from the original series while adding interesting supplementary material. Felton will start his Broadway debut on November 11, 2025, and will conclude on March 22, 2026, at the Lyric Theater. Viewers can also revisit the entire film franchise, streaming on HBO Max.
