‘The Guest’: First Images Tease the New British Thriller Series Starring Eve Myles, Gabrielle Creevy!! Check It Out!!

As Doctor Who‘s future remains more uncertain, one of its fondest spin-offs, Torchwood, which ended almost fifteen years ago, is seeing one of its stars return to our screens in a brand-new project with the BBC. Eve Myles, best known for her role as Gwen Cooper in the sci-fi series, is joining the next in a long line of British dramas, starring in The Guest alongside Black DovesGabrielle Creevy, a fellow Welsh actress also known for her role in another BBC series, In My Skin.

For the first time, as cited via Radio Times, both Myles and Creevy — as business owner Fran and her employee Ria, respectively — can be seen in the upcoming The Guest in a trio of first-look images available below. The series, scheduled for release later this year, is the brainchild of multi-award-winning writer Matthew Barry, best known for his work on the likes of Men Up, medical drama Casualty, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The series is produced by Quay Street Productions, a part of ITV Studios, with creator Barry saying in a statement:

I’m beyond excited to be re-teaming with Nicola, Davina and the whole team at Quay Street Productions and the BBC to bring The Guest to life. As well as being an exciting thriller, at its core this is an examination of class, social mobility and the growing disparity between those at the top and bottom of our society.

What is ‘The Guest’ About?

A stylish, brooding thriller about intensity, toxicity, and other difficulties in modern friendship, The Guest seems to be an unmissable addition to the BBC‘s latter-year lineup. The series will follow in the vein of many other similar series, proving incredibly popular on the British mainstay network, seemingly both tonally and with a pair of stars already proven as huge talents. “Ria has never had the time or opportunity to think about what she might actually want from the world. So, when she starts cleaning for Fran, she’s intoxicated by this confident and self-assured woman who encourages her to take control of her life, and when Ria flourishes, an intense friendship is forged,” the official synopsis begins. It continues:

However, when Fran’s advice leads to a shocking event, the lives of these two very different women become intertwined by shared secrets and dangerous plots. What follows is a compelling and manipulative game of cat and mouse. But just who is playing who?”

The Guest is scheduled for release later this year. In the meantime, check out Creevy‘s Black Doves on Netflix
