‘Scrubs’: Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke Confirmed to Reprise Roles in Reboot!!

After months of reporting and updates, the long-awaited Scrubs reboot just took a major step forward. ABC has officially confirmed that the Scrubs reboot has been ordered to series, and although it has already been announced that original star Zach Braff would reprise his role as Dr. John Dorian, we now have confirmation on which other original stars will join him in the next iteration. Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke will also reprise their respective roles as Dr. Christopher Turk and Dr. Elliot Reed, and even more original cast members are expected to be announced in the coming months. Bill Lawrence, creator of the original show, weighed in on the exciting news: “Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together.”

The official logline for the new Scrubs series has also been released: “JD and Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time – medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart, and some surprises along the way.” It sounds like Scrubs fans are in for a treat that not only pays homage to the original series but also brings a fresh idea to the table that makes the reboot worth pursuing. Original Scrubs alums Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra have also been tapped to executive produce and showrun the reboot, with Lawrence executive producing and creating once again. Lawrence still has an overall deal with Warner Bros., which is allowing him to work on the Scrubs reboot with 20th Century Television.

Bill Lawrence got his start creating Spin City, the popular sitcom starring Michael J. Fox and Charlie Sheen, but Scrubs is widely viewed as his first true breakout project. Just a few years ago, Lawrence returned to the world of television by creating Ted Lasso, the hit Emmy Award-winning series that’s also getting another season. Lawrence further strengthened his Apple TV+ partnership in the last few years by working on Shrinking, the drama starring Harrison Ford and Jason Segel, and Bad Monkey, the comedy series starring Vince Vaughn. Both shows have new seasons on the way.
