‘The Map That Leads To You’: First Images Tease Madelyn Cline & KJ Apa’s Chemistry in Prime Video’s Adaptation!! Check It Out!!

Prime Video wants you to fall in love this summer. Today, the streamer unveiled some first-look images from their upcoming romance movie The Map That Leads To You, and it looks like protagonists Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks) and KJ Apa (Riverdale) are exuding chemistry in every frame. The story centers around a post-grad who goes on a European trip and meets a stranger who changes her life forever. The movie is set to premiere on August 20, and a trailer is yet to be unveiled.

The slate of images suggests that Heather (Cline) wears the confident look of someone who knows what they want. Maybe this is why meeting Jack (Apa) is such a big change for her life — falling in love always comes with a high dose of uncertainty and spontaneity. But it looks like it’s all worth it: the images showcase a couple that’s definitely deep in love and thoroughly excited to start this next chapter in their lives. There’s only one issue with their dynamic: they live on different continents. So is this a summer fling, or will they be able to get past their biggest issue? We will find out next month.

It goes without saying that The Map That Leads To You will also be a travel adventure with gorgeous landscapes in different parts of Europe, including Spain and Italy. It certainly doesn’t hurt a new relationship to have several dating spots that are pretty much a dream come true, and the images underscore that. They also show that Heather will spend some time with her friends, played by Sofia Wylie (The School For Good And Evil) and Madison Thompson (Boo, Bitch).

Is ‘The Map That Leads To You’ Based on a Book?

The Map That Leads To You is directed by Lasse Hallström, the Swedish filmmaker who is no stranger to passionate and heartfelt stories. He previously helmed titles like Safe Haven, Dear John, and the tearjerker Hachi: A Dog’s Tale. The screenplay is written by Les Bohem (The Alamo) and Vera Herbert (This Is Us), who adapt the story from the best-selling novel of the same name by author J.P. Monninger — a book that Nicholas Sparks called “romantic and unforgettable.”

Prime Video defines the movie as a “coming-of-age story,” hinting that The Map That Leads To You will be as much a self-discovery journey for Heather as it will be a head-over-heels romance. This mirrors the streamer’s last year’s release The Idea of You, which was also a story with romance at the core but with an additional layer that delves into the psyche of its protagonist.

Prime Video debuts The Map That Leads To You on August 20.
