‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4: Hannah Waddingham Teases Return in Brand New Update!!

After having a small role opposite Tom Cruise earlier this year in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, one Ted Lasso star just dropped a major update on the future of the show. Starring in one of the leading roles of Rebecca Welton is Hannah Waddingham, the owner of AFC Richmond, who initially tries to run the team into the ground before buying into Ted’s (Jason Sudeikis) kindness. Rebecca has grown into a fan-favorite character through three seasons, and Waddingham has blossomed into a star because of it.

While all signs originally pointed to Ted Lasso Season 3 being the end of the show, whispers started last year that another season was being discussed. Rumors about this circulated for months before Apple TV+ finally confirmed that a fourth season of Ted Lasso is officially in the works. It remains unclear what the plot or story will be, considering the Season 3 ending sent Ted back home to America, but everyone involved in the show seems confident that there is more story to tell that doesn’t harm what came before.

Waddingham caught up with Variety at the world premiere of Smurfs in Los Angeles this weekend, and she was asked if she could give any updates on Ted Lasso Season 4. While she declined to give any specifics, she did compare the series to “exhuming a dead dog,” but she remains excited to see where the story is heading:

“It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we’ve exhumed it, and I am here for it. I was hankering and hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She’s my girl. She’s in my bloodstream, so I’m thrilled that it’s been exhumed.”

When Is ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Coming Out?

Apple TV+ has yet to come out and officially announce when Ted Lasso Season 4 will be released. Ted Lasso star Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard in the series, recently confirmed that the show will begin filming soon, but he did not give a specific date. Bill Lawrence and Jason Sudeikis are likely still ironing out the final details for the story before the team gathers to begin production, but once they’re all in the same room together, you better believe it’s going to be magic. Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed also confirmed in a recent interview with Collider that there will be a “host of new characters” in Ted Lasso Season 4, but these new cast members have yet to be announced.
