Sullivan’s Crossing has taken almost no time making Netflix subscribers swoon, flying up into the top spot on the streaming charts within its first three days on the platform and ending its first week at #3. The romantic drama’s loyal following has now exploded to new heights and, unsurprisingly, The CW is capitalizing on it. Per Deadline, the network just renewed the Chad Michael Murray and Morgan Kohan-led show for a fourth season with its main romantic duo, alongside Scott Patterson, set to return sometime in 2026. For U.S. viewers, the news comes just ahead of the Season 3 finale tonight, though the series has already aired in its entirety on Canada’s CTV.
On the Netflix weekly charts, Sullivan’s Crossing opened up its new streaming branch with 3 million views and 22 million hours watched. That’s an impressive feat considering the only shows that managed to outperform it were two hit, newer original series — The Sandman Season 2 and The Waterfront. The platform has proved to be the perfect home for its complex stories of love and second chances, especially since it hails from Roma Roth, the executive producer of the streaming service’s other smash-hit Robyn Carr novel adaptation, Virgin River. All the success the show has had across both The CW, where it ranks as a top-three show in viewership, and now Netflix made the renewal decision a no-brainer, according to the network’s president, Brad Schwartz.
Canada’s Bell Media co-produces the series with The CW. The writing was already on the wall that a stateside renewal was coming in part because Bell had already announced its decision back in May due to a difference in budgeting cycles. The series centers on Maggie Sullivan (Kohan), a neurosurgeon whose life is upended by legal troubles, leading her back to her hometown in Nova Scotia to reconnect with her past. There, she tries to reforge a relationship with her estranged father, Sully (Patterson), makes new friends, and navigates a romance with charming local Cal Jones (Murray). Tom Jackson and Andrea Menard also star in the series.
What Can Viewers Expect From the ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’ Season 3 Finale
Season 3 has been all about new beginnings and getting things back on track at the Crossing, both in terms of the romantic relationship between Maggie and Cal and their ambitions. After enduring some changes and a dramatic search and rescue following a cave-in, the finale will bring everything to a head as the gang prepares to open their new restaurant. Cal has some concerns, though, that Maggie is feeling a longing for her once-successful career. At long last, she’ll reconcile the feelings in her head and her heart with a major decision, but that might all change when someone from her past arrives with a stunning revelation. In the meantime, Sully also decides he needs to shift gears after a surprise visitor pushes him in a new direction. Everything culminates in what Roth has described as a “big shoe drop” that will carry over and define what happens next in Season 4.
Sullivan’s Crossing airs its Season 3 finale on The CW tonight at 8 p.m. The series is now also available to stream on Netflix.
