‘Crystal Lake’: ‘Friday the 13th’ Prequel Series Finds Its Jason Voorhees in ‘Chucky’ Star Callum Vinson!!

The Friday the 13th prequel series that’s in the works at Peacock with A24, just slashed out of the woods with a major update. Deadline reports that Callum Vinson, best known for his role as Henry Collins in the Chucky franchise, has joined the cast of Crystal Lake as a young Jason Vorhees. Vinson’s role will reportedly be in the guest capacity, featuring only briefly — the project is about Jason’s mother, Pamela Vorhees. Linda Cardellini has been tapped to play the featured role of Pamela in the series. The new show is set in Crystal Lake, and it will follow Pamela as she goes on a violent killing spree after watching her son drown in the lake. Jason watches his mother lose her head to end her killing spree, which is what leads him down his own murderous path.

Brad Caleb Kane has been tapped to write, showrun, and executive produce the series, which he also announced is now in production. Kane is also working on another major horror prequel project, IT: Welcome to Derry, which tells the story of the dangerous town of Derry in the events leading up to Stephen King’s first film. He also recently penned several episodes of HBO’s Warrior series starring Andrew Koji, which was canceled after three seasons. He notably came up with the story for The Banker, the 2020 period drama starring Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson. Other names confirmed to star in Crystal Lake are Danielle Kotch as Claudette, Nany Nagrant as Kay Christy, Victoria Russell as Celeste, Joy Suprano as Rita, Natalie Shaw as Pinky, and Austin Colby as Shep.

When Does A24’s ‘Crystal Lake’ Series Come Out?

Although Peacock has yet to assign the show an official release date, Crystal Lake is expected to premiere on the platform sometime in 2026. It will all depend on how long it takes the show to wrap production before we can nail down a more specific prediction about when, in 2026, it could drop on the platform. If the show finished filming in the next few months, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for it to secure an early 2026 release date. However, the closer to the end of the year it wraps, the longer in 2026 we’ll have to wait for it.

Peacock’s Crystal Lake series is now filming ahead of its planned 2026 release date.
