‘Stick’ Renewed for Season 2!!

On the same day that Apple TV+ released the season finale of Owen Wilson’s new hit golf series, the streamer has already reached a verdict about its future. Apple TV+ has officially announced that Stick has been renewed and will indeed receive a second season, with Wilson, Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, and Lilli Kay all expected to return. The show was a hit among critics and audiences throughout its widely beloved first season, which earned it a “Certified Fresh” rating of 82% from critics and 69% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The show was written and created for television by Jason Keller, who is also known for his work as a scribe on Ford v Ferrari, the 2019 racing epic starring Christian Bale. Keller shared a full statement on Stick’s renewal:

I am inspired and humbled by the audience reaction to ‘Stick,’ and I’m thrilled to be making a second season with this magical cast, led by the incomparable Owen Wilson, and the wonderful creative team at Apple TV+. It’s a joy to be able to continue this story. Most importantly, however, this season two order will provide me with an undeniable excuse to play even more golf. Thank you, Apple TV+.

Star Owen Wilson weighed in on the renewal, saying, “I think we all had a great time making it. It’s really nice to see the show connecting with people to know that we get a chance to continue the story!” Exactly the words you want to hear from your leading star. Head of Apple TV+ programming, Matt Cherniss, also released an official statement on the exciting news, teasing that there is “plenty more in the bag for fans of the series, and we’re thrilled they’ll soon have the chance to discover Pryce Cahill’s next chapter.” Stick has consistently been the most popular show on Apple TV+ since its arrival in June. It quickly took the top spot from Your Friendly and Neighbors upon its premiere and has held off newer arrivals, such as Foundation and Smoke.

What Is ‘Stick’ About?

Stick tells the story of Pryce Cavill, a former pro golfer whose career went off the rails unexpectedly 20 years ago. After his marriage fell to pieces, and he found himself working at a small Indiana sporting goods store, he staked his entire future on a troubled 17-year-old prodigy, Santi (Dager). The show has been likened to other feel-good series like Ted Lasso, which is also coming back for another season. It’s unclear when Stick Season 2 will begin production or when it will be released, but fans remain optimistic that the wait between seasons will be more akin to a par three than a par five.

Stick has been renewed for Season 2.
