‘Untamed’ Renewed for Season 2!!

Although Eric Bana’s Special Agent Kyle Turner may have closed the case on the mysterious death of Lucy Cook (Ezra Franky), the case isn’t yet closed on Netflix’s breakaway crime drama, Untamed. Today, the streamer announced that its latest title to take off like wildfire has been renewed for a second season. At this point, it isn’t clear whether Bana or other characters from the debut season will return or if the production will take on a similar layout to True Detective and move into anthology territory. We can presume that the next chapter will take us to a different National Park and away from the towering granite cliffs of Yosemite in California’s Sierra Nevada region, but aside from that, there’s a lot up in the air. Still, those who flocked to the incredibly bingeable six-episode series will be happy to know that there are more mysteries on the way.

Initially billed as a miniseries, Untamed Season 1 followed Bana’s Kyle Turner, a National Park Service Investigative Services Branch special agent who was working diligently within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park to uncover the truth about a woman’s mysterious death (Franky). Seemingly toppling off the behemoth rock facade known as El Capitan, there initially don’t seem to be many clues for Kyle to go off surrounding the bizarre death, but, as he digs into the ins and outs of the park and its personnel, a sinister picture begins to come together, putting the puzzle pieces into place for Kyle to solve the case.

Joining Bana in Netflix’s latest star-studded series is an ensemble that also includes Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Rosemarie DeWitt (The Boys), Wilson Bethel (Daredevil: Born Again), Lily Santiago (La Brea) and Raoul Trujillo (The Blacklist). From the jump, Untamed became one of Netflix’s hottest titles of July, quickly climbing up its Top 10 chart to find itself alongside other popular and new episodic releases, including the final season of The Sandman and the hard-hitting true crime docuseries, Amy Bradley Is Missing. Compared to other favorites like the aforementioned True Detective, the twist-filled whodunnit became a placeholder for those in need of a little mystery.

‘Untamed’ Was a Dream Come True for Eric Bana

In addition to being a ratings hit, Untamed proved to be a pinnacle moment in Bana’s career thanks to it offering up the chance for him to work alongside the legendary Neill. During a recent interview with Collider’s Christina Radish, Bana said of working with the iconic actor:

“When he agreed to come on board, we were so thrilled. I felt like I was going to be in really great hands. I knew I had a lot of really important scenes with the Paul Souter character, and he was just a dream. He was just absolutely incredible, with great energy. He was super professional. It just felt effortless.”

Untamed Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
