A brand-new lineup of names is preparing to toss on their capes and fly into the world of The Boys, as the universe’s latest offshoot, Vought Rising, announces a fresh batch of talent. With filming set to commence later this month, the project is fortifying its foundation and adding some more names to the title that will see the return of Jensen Ackles’ (Supernatural) Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s (The Franchise) Stormfront. Joining ranks with two of Vought’s most legendary heroes will be Jorden Myrie (The Strays), Nicolò Pasetti (That Dirty Black Bag), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), and Brian J. Smith (Sense8). The fresh quartet will also join previously announced series regulars, Will Hochman (Blue Bloods) and Elizabeth Posey (Euphoria).
Set in the same universe as The Boys, Vought Rising will turn the clock back several decades and follow the very early days of the titular company. It’s here that we’ll meet Soldier Boy (Ackles) and Stormfront (Cash) as they make their way up the food chain and become household names. Because the backgrounds of both characters have received some storyline time in the flagship series, we already know to expect two incredibly poorly-behaved “heroes” and — in the case of Stormfront — one Nazi-sympathizing ultra-powerful being. As of right now, character descriptions for the additional cast haven’t been announced, but we can’t wait to see how they’ll fall into the story and what new supes might be introduced.
Beyond Vought Rising, fans have two more in-universe projects on the way, with the arrival of Gen V’s second season set for September 17 and the fifth and final season of the show that started it all somewhere on the horizon. The prequel series will mark the third time the creative team has veered down a different alleyway, as, along with Gen V, there was also the one-season-running adult animated series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
Where Did We Leave Off with Stormfront and Soldier Boy?
The last time audiences saw Stormfront (Cash) was at the beginning of Season 3 when she was hanging on life support following the Season 2 finale. However, she doesn’t last long in the story, as she ends up committing suicide by biting off her own tongue. On the other hand, while Soldier Boy’s (Ackles) main arc so far was in Season 3, we caught a glimpse of him during the Season 4 finale after it’s revealed to Homelander (Antony Starr) that Soldier Boy (who is also his father) is alive. We know that the character will play a part in the final season, although it isn’t completely clear just how big that role will be.
