Remember when Marvel Studios played the painful game of musical chairs while announcing the Avengers: Doomsday cast? Fans around the world watched with bated breath as one by one our favorite Avengers and X-Men made it to the cast list. For fans who grew up on X-Men movies in the 2000s, the return of characters like Ian McKellan’s Magneto, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, and more felt like the characters finally getting their due. As Doomsday continues to film in England, we are getting more and more details from the cast and crew, and now we have some idea what Nightcrawler would look like.
Cumming, who is proving as efficient in giving fans what they want with sneaky spoilers as Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland, took to social media and shared an on-set video that flaunts the set lighting, a image of his prosthetic teeth, and most interestingly, an image is of a cardboard box that shows two nightcrawler images: one which has Cumming’s likeness another which is more comic accurate with the shades of red in the Nightcrawler suit.
Now, fans may think that Marvel Studios will show the character in a comic-accurate suit just like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, but at the moment, it’s anyone’s guess. The original X-Men movies famously stayed away from superhero suits, so it’ll be refreshing to see the vision realized in the upcoming movie.
Alan Cumming will Go Up Against Pedro Pascal in Avengers: Doomsday
As mentioned, Cumming has been as efficient as Ruffalo and Holland in naively giving out filming secrets (and thus has fans’ gratitude). Previously, the actor accidentally let slip that he’ll be going up against none other than Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) in Avengers: Doomsday. He revealed, while talking about doing his own stunts for the movie:
“I’m playing Nightcrawler again now. I’m working, learning stunts yesterday for a fight scene. And I just think: I’m sixty years old! Twenty-three years ago, I played that superhero. I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now, I’m back doing it. That to me, is hilarious. I’m learning these fights. I say: “Who am I fighting with?” And they say: “You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head or something.”
