‘Robin Hood’: First Image Finds Sean Bean, Connie Nielsen Highly-Anticipated MGM+ Series!!! Check It Out!!

The court is gathering, and soon, one of literature’s greatest heroes will rob the rich and give to the poor in MGM+’s eagerly-awaited series, Robin Hood. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview Event, we’re excited to pull back the curtain and introduce audiences to two of the project’s main characters, who are played by very familiar faces. While many productions have attempted to tell the story first penned by Howard Pyle in 1883, this one promises to stand out from the crowd thanks to a cast consisting of Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) as Eleanor of Aquitaine, Lauren McQueen (Masters of the Air) as Marian, and on-the-rise War Machine star, Jack Patten, as the titular vigilante.

A lavish party is raging in our exclusive first look at Robin Hood, where Bean’s Sheriff of Nottingham can be seen escorting Nielsen’s Eleanor of Aquitaine into a large banquet hall. The pair is all smiles as they walk past the line of servants and into the stone-walled room illuminated by blazing torches. Each is also showing off their incredible opulence through their outfits emblazoned in gold, with Eleanor also donning a dazzling crown upon her head. We know that Bean has had some bad luck in fantasy projects in the past (Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings trilogy), and playing the primary antagonist in Robin Hood certainly doesn’t set him up for a different outcome, so his character should enjoy the feast while he can.

Filling out the production’s ensemble is a lineup that also includes Steven Waddington (The Last of the Mohicans) as the Earl of Huntingdon, Lydia Peckham (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) as Priscilla of Nottingham, Angus Castle-Doughty (Shadow and Bone) as Friar Tuck, Henry Rowley as Will, and Marcus Fraser (Transformers: The Last Knight) as Robin Hood’s right-hand man, Little John.
