‘Star Wars’: Oscar Isaac Open to Return As Poe Dameron Under One Condition!!

For years, Oscar Isaac has made it clear he wasn’t eager to revisit a galaxy far, far away. After wrapping the sequel trilogy in 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the actor has insisted that his days of piloting an X-wing were firmly behind him. Yet in a new interview, Isaac seems to have had a change of heart, and has left the door of possibility cracked open for the future. When asked directly about reprising his role as the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, Isaac leaned into humor, borrowing from The Simpsons with a high-pitched quip: “I’m a Star Wars.” Then, more earnestly, he followed his comments with a stance-reversing admission: “Yeah, I’d be a Star Wars again if there was something good to do with that.

The comment is a notable departure from his previous stance, when he dismissed the idea of returning to the space saga unless he needed another house. Now, Isaac frames the possibility less around financial necessity and more around creative opportunity, hinting that his perspective on returning to the role may have softened with time.

Oscar Isaac Wants a Story Worth Fighting For

Isaac further emphasized that his career choices have never been dictated by long-term strategy. Instead, he weighs each project on its own merits. “It’s just about ‘Is there something in a film that I love enough that when that alarm goes off in the morning, I’m ready and wanting to go to work?’” he explained. “‘Is there enough in it to pull me across the finish line?’

That kind of language will be encouraging to fans hoping for a revival of the sequel trilogy’s core cast. Daisy Ridley is already set to return as Rey in Star Wars: New Jedi Order, and with her comeback confirmed, speculation has been swirling about whether John Boyega’s Finn or Isaac’s Poe could eventually join her on screen again. For Isaac, the conditions are clear: the story has to be worth it. His recent projects, including Scenes from a Marriage, Marvel’s Moon Knight, and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, have showcased his appetite for layered, complex roles rather than franchise obligation. If Lucasfilm presents a narrative that sparks that same fire, Isaac seems ready to climb back into the cockpit of his X-wing.
