Noah Wyle is officially back as the beloved Dr. Robby in the first images from The Pitt Season 2, which can be found below. The new images, which come courtesy of EW, also showcase the first look at Dr. Al-Hashimi, who will be played by Sepideh Moafi (Black Bird, Generation Q: The L Word). Al-Hashimi is an attending who arrives at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center from the VA, where she has experience working with Dr. Mel King (Taylor Dearden) and Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh). Gemmill describes the new addition to the ER as “someone who is very progressive in her approach to medicine.”
While The Pitt will bring in some fresh meat like Dr. Al-Hashimi, there will also be some fan-favorites back to reprise their roles. The first day back will focus on Patrick Ball’s Dr. Langdon, who was thought to be fired until he came back to help the victims of the mass shooting. Langdon’s fate was left up in the air at the end of Season 1, but he confirmed earlier this summer, before The Pitt Season 2 began filming, that he would be back. Taylor Dearden has also teased more of Mel’s dynamic with Dr. Langdon in Season 2.
Fans are also looking forward to the return of the aforementioned Dr. Mohan, who had brief but explosive chemistry with Dr. Jack Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) in The Pitt Season 1. It was unclear who was going to return in Season 2, but fans have been thrilled to see that Dr. Mohan is back on the schedule for another shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Hatosy is also stepping into a larger role in Season 2 — in addition to being a recurring star in the series, he will even direct an episode of The Pitt in Season 2.
What Else Do We Know About ‘The Pitt’ Season 2?
We also know that The Pitt Season 2 will feature a time jump forward to Fourth of July weekend, which will certainly present the ER team at Pittsburg Trauma Medical Center with all manner of new injuries to deal with. In addition to Hatosy directing an episode, it has also been confirmed that leading star Noah Wyle will helm an episode of The Pitt Season 2. This opens the door for even more stars to expand their careers into directing going forward, and even potentially learn from Wyle and Hatosy on set.
The Pitt Season 2 will be released on January 8. Check out the first images above.
