House of David is officially coming back — and this time, it’s leading the charge for an entirely new streaming initiative. Amazon has announced that Season 2 of the Biblical epic will debut on October 5 with its first two episodes, premiering exclusively on the Wonder Project subscription channel within Prime Video, along with first look images for the series. The show will later become available to all Prime Video subscribers at a date to be announced. First-look photos from the new season have been released, offering a glimpse of the next step of David’s journey from shepherd to Israel’s future king.
The Wonder Project subscription tier launches the same day as House of David’s return, priced at $8.99/month or $89.99/year in the U.S. CEO Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten described the new offering as a family-first hub designed to provide curated programming audiences can trust:
“As a mom, I’m always looking for great films and TV series to watch with the kids. I’m always asking friends for recommendations – and so are they. Starting October 5 we can lean on Wonder to recommend great new shows. With this launch we’re expanding our mission, to include curating stories for our audience that restore faith in things worth believing in.”
The subscription will feature more than 125 licensed titles and over 1,000 hours of programming at launch, ranging from TV classics like Mr. Bean, Sherlock, and Pride and Prejudice to films including Dead Poets Society, The Sound of Music, Rudy, The Sandlot, and American Underdog. Wonder Project founder Jon Erwin emphasized the importance of House of David as its flagship series:
“The dream of the Wonder Project subscription on Prime Video is to make it easier than ever for families to decide what to watch together. We are so excited to kick things off with the two-episode premiere of House of David’s second season. The reaction to the show has been extraordinary. The new season is epic and emotional and I can’t wait for Wonder subscribers to be the first to experience it.”
What Can We Expect from House of David Season 2?
Created by Erwin (Jesus Revolution) and Jon Gunn (Ordinary Angels), House of David tells the sweeping story of David beyond his legendary battle with Goliath. Season 1 introduced Michael Iskander as David, alongside Ali Suliman as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Stephen Lang as the prophet Samuel, and Oded Fehr as Abner. The second season will continue exploring David’s early life, relationships, and the mounting pressure of his divine destiny.
Speaking with Collider earlier this year, Iskander reflected on how the series format allows for a more layered exploration of the iconic figure:
“I think just the nature of the show, having been a series instead of a movie or a short film, I think just lends itself to truly finding all the little moments about what it means to be a human during that time, and what it means to be up against someone like Goliath. And it just allows the show to really dig into every single character, every single relationship, the heart of the story. And we just, we get to take our time and tell it.”
