The Netflix live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling has found its lead actress. Han So-hee, known for her role in Gyeongseong Creature, as Yoon Chae-ok will be joining Byeon Woo-seok‘s Sung Jinwoo as an S-Rank hunter, Cha Hae In. In the anime series, she’s voiced by Reina Ueda in the Japanese dub and Michelle Rojas in English, and serves as a love interest for the former E-Rank hunter and is the Vice-Guild Master of the Hunters Guild.
Global distributor Kakao Entertainment first teased Solo Leveling‘s live-action series back in January 2025, followed by Crunchyroll and the video game, Solo Leveling: Arise, through various social media videos, giving a glimpse into how a live-action production of the show would look. In July 2025, it was confirmed that Netflix is working on the project, and also attached to the project are Ashfall collaborators Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo, who will co-direct. As of the time of writing, the project is still in its early stages.
Solo Leveling is an anime adaptation of the hit Webtoon novel of the same name by Chugong, where it follows Sung Jinwoo, who was selected by the system to level up his power to become the strongest hunter. The show got a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Season 2 recently won Anime of the Year at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. At the moment, there has been no confirmation on whether Season 3 will be produced, but the show’s cast has teased what’s in store for Jinwoo if his story continues.
What Other Anime Has Been Adapted to Live Action?
Solo Leveling isn’t the only anime that has been given the live-action treatment, as there have been other shows that have been remade with real-life actors. One notable example is Death Note, which has both a Japanese and a Netflix film adaptation. While the Japanese adaptation was well-received, the Netflix version received heavy criticism on Rotten Tomatoes.
Netflix was also behind the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, which was canceled immediately after it premiered. Fortunately, the streaming giant was able to redeem itself with the live-action adaptation of One Piece, with one of the reasons for its success being Eiichiro Oda’s involvement in the show. The series has released a trailer for the show’s second Season and has confirmed that a third installment will be produced.
The live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling has yet to announce its release date.
