The Death Stranding movie, which has been in the works for years, just got a thriller update from one of its producers. It was announced in 2022 that A24 was behind a live-action Death Stranding movie adaptation, and while updates were quiet for a while, the film seems to be gaining momentum in recent months. The game features a star-studded cast led by Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, and even Guillermo del Toro. It’s still unconfirmed if any of these stars plan to return for the movie, and although some fans had given up hope that the movie would ever be released, we now have a reason to be positive.
Producer Allan Ungar recently caught up with Screen Rant for an interview to promote his new project, London Calling, and he was asked if he had anything new to share about the Death Stranding movie. He confirmed that the project is still “in active development,” and while he admitted that “it’s always something I can’t really talk about,” he did confirm that it’s“moving in a very positive direction.” This is great news for Death Stranding fans, who are also riding high from the release of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach earlier this year.
It took the Death Stranding movie some time to get on its feet, but there have been a few updates on the project this year of note. It was reported back in April that Michael Sarnoski had boarded the project as director. Sarnoski previously made his directorial debut on Pig (Nicolas Cage), and he also recently directed A Quiet Place: Day One (Lupita N’yongo). He’s also in line to direct Hugh Jackman’s Death of Robin Hood movie. It’s also been reported that Raised by Wolves writer Aaron Guzikowski is working with Kojima on a script for Death Stranding.
What Else Is Hideo Kojima Famous For?
Hideo Kojima first gained fame for his work on the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Although the series has just released its first new installment in years, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Kojima himself is no longer involved with the franchise he created. The release of Death Stranding in 2019 further expanded his popularity and cemented him as one of the most complex video game developers ever. Kojima’s next game is expected to be OD, which is described as a “one-of-a-kind” experience. The game stars Hunter Schafer alongside Sophia Lillis and Udo Kier, and will also be co-written by modern-day horror icon Jordan Peele.
