George Clooney’s next Ocean’s movie just took a massive step forward thanks to a new update. Clooney recently caught up with E! News to chat about his new movie, Jay Kelly, and he was asked about the status of the long-gestating Ocean’s 14 movie. Clooney confirmed that they “got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we’re trying to get it set up.” He continued, “It’s just scheduling, so it’s setting a start date for us. Probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting.” No word on when the new Ocean’s movie will be released, likely sometime in 2027.
You need cast members to fill out a movie, though, and Ocean’s 14 plans to bring back some fan-favorites. Clooney was asked if he was looking forward to working with his long-time cohort Brad Pitt on the big screen once again, to which he replied, “Yeah. Brad [Pitt], Matt [Damon], Don [Cheadle], and Julia [Roberts]. I had dinner with Julia last night. They’re all still really dear friends. And so, the chance to work together would be so fun.” Ocean’s 14 has been treading water for years now, so it’s exciting to see it finally receive some concrete updates.
The modern Ocean’s franchise began in 2001 with the release of Ocean’s Eleven, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh. The film grossed over $450 million at the global box office against an $85 million budget. Pitt and Clooney both returned for the 2004 and 2007 sequels, Ocean’s Twelve and Thirteen, and the franchise was rebooted in 2018 with an all-woman cast led by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway.
George Clooney and Brad Pitt Worked Together Last Year
Just last year, George Clooney and Brad Pitt reunited for the Apple TV+ original hitman thriller, Wolfs. The film was released at the end of the year, and it follows two rival fixers who get set up on the same job and are forced to work together. The film was mostly well-liked by critics and audiences, and Apple was so confident in its performance that it prematurely greenlit a sequel before the film ever began streaming. Things quickly fell apart when director Jon Watts came out and confirmed that he was unhappy with the way Apple handled Wolfs‘ release, and that it was his choice to kill the sequel, not the studio’s.
