‘Invincible’ Season 4: Lee Pace to Voice General Thragg!!

At last, Invincible has revealed who will provide the imposing voice behind the biggest bad of them all — Grand Regent Thragg. Series creator Robert Kirkman, stars Steven Yeun and Gillian Jacobs, and more were in attendance at New York Comic-Con, where the bloody Prime Video superhero show received its first teaser for Season 4 and a March 2026 release window. Not only that, but the team shared that none other than Foundation‘s head of the galactic empire, Lee Pace, would take the throne of Viltrum for himself. Ahead of the big reveal, Collider‘s Maggie Lovitt had the chance to speak with Kirkman about what viewers could expect from his arrival and how much he would appear in Season 4.

Kirkman, understandably, didn’t want to get too in-depth on the presence of Thragg before spotlighting him at the Invincible panel. “I feel like the less said, the better at this point,” he cautioned. With Season 4 gearing up for the beginning of the Viltrumite War, however, he could confirm that fans should be raising their expectations for how much screen time the grand regent will have in his debut run of episodes. “But I will say that he is in this season far more than you might expect, far sooner than you might expect it.” Pace will be getting plenty of time to establish Thragg as the biggest threat in this universe, to the point that Kirkman believes viewers will both be left wanting more and yet more than satisfied with his introduction. “You are not going to be watching Season 4 going, ‘I wish there was more Thragg.’ You will, but there’s still going to be a lot.”

Pace is another big add for Invincible, following Jeffrey Dean Morgan‘s chilling turn as Conquest in the Season 3 finale. As the various iterations of Brother Day in Foundation, he’s had plenty of experience playing an all-powerful ruler who can be layered and more than a little intimidating. He’s also not unfamiliar with being the villain in a superhero story, previously taking up the mantle of Ronan the Accuser in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. Also known for his roles in Pushing Daisies and Halt and Catch Fire, he’ll next be seen on the big screen playing the lead hunter tracking down Glen Powell in Edgar Wright‘s much-anticipated adaptation of The Running Man, hitting theaters on November 14.

Who Is Thragg in the ‘Invincible’ Comics?

Thragg is the embodiment of the Viltrum ideal in Invincible, solely dedicated to the mission of expanding the empire to the point that they are the only beings left in the universe. As the most powerful Viltrumite in existence, even over Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) and capable of going toe-to-toe with Battle Beast (Michael Dorn), with the strategic mind and ruthlessness to conquer all enemies in front of him, he believes in the superiority of his race and was all too willing to take the reins of his people following the death of the first emperor and the advent of the Scourge Virus with plans of imposing his will upon all of existence. Without question, he is the greatest threat Mark (Yeun) and Nolan will ever face, and his arrival marks the beginning of the show’s endgame, even if there are still plenty of stories to tell. Yet, there’s also a greater emotional complexity to him as he remains haunted by the destruction of his homeworld.

In addition to Pace, Invincible already has one more confirmed new addition for Season 4 in Matthew Rhys, who is voicing Dinosaurus. Following his brief appearance at the end of Season 3, Bruce Campbell is also set to get more of the spotlight in a show-original storyline based around Hell and featuring the return of the demon detective Damien Darkblood (Clancy Brown). They’ll add to a story that has so much to resolve from a cliffhanger ending. From the Sequids preparing to rise up from the sewers after gathering their ranks on Earth, to Angstrom Levy (Sterling K. Brown) surviving yet another battle with Mark, and Cecil (Walton Goggins) secretly keeping Conquest alive and locked up, Invincible won’t be able to catch a break yet again.

Invincible returns for Season 4 in March 2026.
