‘Evil Dead Burn’ Officially Wrapped Filming!!

The next chapter of The Evil Dead is one step closer to release. Filming has officially wrapped on Evil Dead Burn, with director Sébastien Vaniček posting a behind-the-scenes video on social media that was then shared by the franchise’s official account to commemorate the occasion and act as a brutal first teaser of sorts for what’s to come. Filming on the project began in New Zealand back in July, in hopes of bringing the Deadites back to the big screen on July 24, 2026. Although it’s a major milestone for the film, any details about the story, penned by Vaniček‘s Infested partner Florent Bernard, remain well under wraps at this time.

In the short set video, Wednesday star Hunter Doohan can be seen viciously and repeatedly smashing something, presumably a Deadite, on the ground just off-screen. Even without the splatter of blood or any sounds to confirm what he’s hitting, it sends a message that this will be another violent affair for the iconic horror franchise, following up on the success of the blood-soaked Evil Dead Rise in 2023. Vaniček said in a previous interview with Konbini that his goal was to make an Evil Dead film that is true to him, features “a French central character,” and generally carries itself with a French energy and plenty of grit. “I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” he continued. “I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!

Aside from Doohan, Evil Dead Burn has also recruited Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), and Tandi Wright (Pearl) to star. Philip Lozano, known for his work on Now You See Me, Transporter, and Cobweb, among other things, is also serving as the film’s cinematographer. As always, franchise creator Sam Raimi is attached to produce with Rob Tapert through their Ghost House Pictures banner, while Ash Williams himself, Bruce Campbell, will join Rise director Lee Cronin and the duo of Romel Adam and Jose Canas as an executive producer.

‘Evil Dead Burn’ Isn’t the Only New Installment on the Horizon

Since Rise arrived and took the franchise in a fresh new direction that didn’t necessarily need Ash to succeed, Campbell and Raimi have been aiming to get Evil Dead on a reasonable cadence of one film every two to three years. They’ve started opening up the world to new ideas that bring the Deadites to interesting new locales, like the high-rise of Cronin‘s effort. Next on the docket is an idea from The Last Stop in Yuma County writer-director Francis Gallupi. Details about what he has in mind are even less known than Vaniček‘s feature, but his plans reportedly impressed Raimi enough to give him free rein within the Evil Dead universe. That film is still in development at this time.

Evil Dead Burn emerges in theaters on July 24, 2026. Check out the new behind-the-scenes video in the player above.
