‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’: Charlie Cox Confirms He Won’t Be Appearing!!

One fan-favorite Marvel hero won’t be swinging into Spider-Man: Brand New Day after all. Despite months of speculation and social media “sightings,” Charlie Cox has officially confirmed that Daredevil will not appear in Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man movie. The actor, who made a memorable cameo as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, cleared up the rumors in a new interview with Brandon Davis.

“I know they all think I’m in Spider-Man because I’m filming something in London. Which I’m not — I’m not in Spider-Man.”

So he’s probably in it, right? Fans had hoped that Cox’s busy filming schedule meant he was secretly involved in the movie. However, it appears the actor will be tied up for the next few months on other Marvel commitments — specifically, the ongoing production of Daredevil: Born Again for Disney.

While it’s a disappointment for those eager to see Spider-Man and Daredevil share the screen once more, it’s not entirely surprising. The cast for Brand New Day is already massive, with Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, and Sadie Sink all confirmed to appear.

This will be the first Spider-Man film since 2021’s No Way Home, and the second entry in Marvel Studios’ Phase 6 slate. The story will follow Peter Parker as he rebuilds his life and identity in a world that no longer remembers who he is.

Why Would Daredevil Work With Spider-Man?

The disappointment hits harder because of how natural a Daredevil-Spider-Man partnership feels. The two share deep comic book roots as New York’s street-level heroes, and No Way Home teased their potential with a single, perfect moment — Murdock advising Peter and catching a brick mid-air.

Since then, Daredevil’s world has continued expanding. He appeared in She-Hulk, voiced his character in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and is headlining Daredevil: Born Again, which was recently renewed for a third season.

Meanwhile, Holland’s Peter Parker is gearing up for a new trilogy. Brand New Day marks the start of that arc, with his MCU future beyond the film still uncertain — including whether he’ll appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars.

While it won’t happen in Brand New Day, the door isn’t closed forever. Marvel is already laying groundwork for its post-Multiverse Saga plans, and fans are still hopeful for a proper red-suit team-up down the line.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31, 2026.
