The future is bright (we’ll refrain from saying “sunny”) for fans of AMC’s Immortal Universe. Since 2022, the network has been bringing the classic literary tales by Anne Rice to the small-screen through its flagship series, Interview with the Vampire, which tested the waters before continuing the following year with Mayfair Witches. Later this week, a third foray into the supernatural world will be explored via Talamasca: The Secret Order. Despite the upcoming project facing mixed reviews from critics, Mark Johnson, the producer behind AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe, says there are plenty of irons in the fire for the next wave of projects.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the Talamasca premiere, Johnson praised the late author’s commitment to her craft, revealing, “You bet there is a list,” in reference to future productions, adding, “There’s so many good ideas. She is an extraordinary writer, and that much more extraordinary when you realize when she was writing — it’s really so far ahead of her time.” Giddy to share just how many titles might make it onto the screen in the future, Johnson said the team over at AMC already have “three or four other titles [and] subjects that we’d like to pursue”, each of which would be based on a different book from Rice’s sprawling collection.

Beyond that, Johnson is keeping his cards close to his chest and unwilling to tell fans exactly what titles they’re looking at. One thing’s for certain, he’s just as much of a fan as everyone watching at home, adding, “I go to AMC every three months and say, ‘You ready for another? Ready for another?’ And so we’ll have one soon enough.” Leaving it in the hands of the sleuths and fervent Rice-readers, Johnson continued,

“I could tell you what I’m excited about, and we may find out that I’m the only one who shares that excitement. I think an Anne Rice aficionado could probably figure out which ones are most likely the next in line — [but] I think I’d better keep the titles to myself right now.”

What’s the Latest Series About?

Both Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches follow the creatures that go bump in the night and drive the heart and soul (no pun intended) of Rice’s supernatural stories. But, in Talamasca: The Secret Order, audiences will be introduced to a group of (mostly) everyday people who have made it their life’s work to keep tabs on the mysterious entities that hide in the shadows.

Talamasca: The Secret Order premieres on AMC on October 26.
