Stephen Graham’s Peaky Blinders replacement is coming back at the start of next year, and marketing for the hit series is kicking into high gear. Hulu has officially released the first teaser trailer for A Thousand Blows Season 2, which arrives on January 9. Season 1 of the hit boxing series was released as a binge, but it’s unclear if Hulu will shift to a weekly release model or once again release the show as a binge in Season 2. In addition to Stephen Graham, A Thousand Blows also stars Erin Doherty (who co-starred with Graham in Netflix‘s smash-hit series Adolescence, for which she also won an Emmy), Malachi Kirby, Francis Lovehall, and Morgan Hilaire.

A Thousand Blows follows the fortunes of Hezekiah (Kirby) and Alec (Lovehall), two best friends who have just arrived in London from Jamaica. As the two fight for survival in the violent melting pot that is Victorian-era London’s East End, they find themselves face to face with boxer Sugar Goodson, a dangerous man with a proposition for them. Immediately upon its premiere last February, A Thousand Blows drew comparisons to Peaky Blinders, largely because of the shows’ settings and crime elements. Graham also has a role in Peaky Blinders, which made the comparisons that much more apt.

Further driving home the validity of the Peaky Blinders replacement that A Thousand Blows has earned is the fact that the series comes from writer Steven Knight, who created Peaky Blinders for the BBC. Knight has also been recruited by Amazon to write the script for the next James Bond movie, which Denis Villeneuve is attached to direct. Ashley Walters, famed for his role in several Harlan Coben projects, directed episodes of the first season.

When Does the ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie Come Out?

Netflix has yet to announce when the Peaky Blinders movie will be released. Dubbed The Immortal Man, the movie wrapped filming last year, but updates about the film have been silent since. Knight did confirm during a recent interview that he believes an announcement regarding the movie is coming soon. This revelation came while he was on the press tour promoting his new Netflix series, House of Guinness. The Peaky Blinders movie is bringing back beloved star Cillian Murphy to his signature role as Thomas Shelby, and other newcomers like Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan have also been tapped for major roles in the film.
