‘Call of Duty’: Taylor Sheridan to Co-Write Paramount’s Video Game Adaptation!!

Taylor Sheridan has officially found his next big project. News broke this afternoon that the Yellowstone creator will co-write the new Call of Duty movie in the works at Paramount with Peter Berg, who is also attached to direct. Berg and Sheridan are also producing under their respective banners alongside David Glasser. The two are long-time friends who previously worked together on Hell or High Water and Wind River, a pair of Westerns that each earned critical acclaim. It’s still unclear when the movie aims to begin production or when it will be released, but with Berg and Sheridan both attached, expect things to move quickly.

Call of Duty is one of the most successful video game franchises in the world. It’s been the #1 best-selling video game series in the United States for 16 years running, with over 500 million copies sold globally. It’s reached hundreds of millions of players worldwide and continues to set the standard for first-person shooter action-adventure games. With their combined experience, Sheridan and Berg are the perfect duo to bring the video game to life. No word yet on if the movie will adapt a certain game or tell a new story inspired by Call of Duty.

Going back to Sheridan’s first project, it’s easy to see why he was the prime choice to write Paramount’s Call of Duty movie. Sheridan made his screenwriting debut on Sicario, the gritty crime thriller that’s very much in line with past campaigns from Call of Duty games. If Sheridan can bring some of his same Sicario magic to his next collaboration with Berg, we could be looking at one of the biggest video game adaptations of all time. Casting for the Call of Duty movie has not yet begun.

‘Call of Duty’ Isn’t Taylor Sheridan’s Only Movie

Over the summer, it was announced that Taylor Sheridan was returning to the world of screenwriting to work on F.A.S.T., a new drug crime thriller in the works that’s already drawing comparisons to Sicario. Sheridan’s long-time collaborator Ben Richardson is directing the action feature, which has recruited stars like LaKeith Stanfield, Jason Clarke, Sam Claflin, and Brandon Sklenar. F.A.S.T. has already been set for release on April 23, 2027, and the Call of Duty movie will likely come sometime after.
