‘Black Doves’ Season 2: Neve Campbell, Ambika Mod & More Join Cast!!

After nearly one full year since its Season 1 finale, production for Season 2 of Black Doves is officially underway. Today, Netflix revealed the exciting information that its pulse-pounding thriller series, which stars Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire, has cameras up and rolling for what is certain to be another intriguing and showstopping set of episodes. Additionally, the streamer has announced that a lineup of fresh faces will be joining the storyline, with the call sheet adding the talents of Ambika Mod (One Day), Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth), Sam Riley (Firebrand), Neve Campbell (Scream), Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049), Goran Kostic (Canary Black) and Samuel Barnett (Penny Dreadful) to the already stacked cast.

We’ve long known that a sophomore entry was on the way for what’s become one of the streamer’s hottest spy thrillers, but it’s taken awhile for the stars to align and its booked and busy cast to get back to work. There’s plenty that has changed in the espionage universe and, even more, that’s stayed the same since we last left off with the characters at the tail end of last year. For starters, Season 2 will see Helen (Knightley) return to her position amidst the titular clandestine organization just with more possibility to be found out thanks to her husband’s (Andrew Buchan) new role as Prime Minister. Then, there’s Lancashire’s Mrs. Reed who finds herself in a troublesome spot with the Black Doves, while Whishaw’s Sam is doing his best to keep his head above water following the fallout from the events of the first season.

In addition to the new cast members, audiences can expect to see returning performances from numerous stars of the first season, including Kathryn Hunter (The Front Room), Gabrielle Creevy (The Guest), Ella Lily Hyland (Silent Roar), Molly Chesworth (Call the Midwife) and Agnes O’Casey (The Miracle Club).

Who’s Behind Season 2 of ‘Black Doves’?

Returning as a writer and executive producer of Black Doves is series creator, Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project), who is joined in the latter by Knightley, as well as Sister’s Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry. In a statement paired with today’s exciting update, Barton said,

“I couldn’t be more excited to delve back into the world of our murderous little spy family. To have so many of our amazing cast returning and also being able to add some of my absolute favourite actors into the mix is such a great joy. Downing Street will never be the same again…”
