Dr. Abbot is trading his scrubs for yet another high-profile role after his Emmy win as a guest actor on The Pitt. According to a new report this afternoon, Shawn Hatosy has been tapped to join Olivia Colman and Brie Larson in their new FX limited series, Cry Wolf. He’ll be directly at the center of the crime thriller, too, playing the husband to Larson‘s April, a concerned mother forced to navigate a seemingly impossible situation.
Inspired by the Danish series Ulven Kommer, created by Maja Jul Larsen, Cry Wolf is described as a psychological family thriller revolving around April and a social worker named Kath (Colman). The two are caught in a crisis after April’s daughter, Mia, alleges abuse, with her stepfather (Hatosy) entangled in the claims. It’s a complicated situation that pushes both women to their limits and shakes the entire family to its foundations. Sarah Treem, the Emmy-nominated co-creator and showrunner behind Showtime‘s The Affair, is at the helm of the FX series, which looks to be another complex, twisty, and emotionally painful outing.
In addition to creating and showrunning the series, Treem is also serving as an executive producer alongside Colman via her South of the River Pictures banner, Melissa Bernstein of Special Interests, and Larson. FX Productions is the studio behind it all. Treem also brings experience as a producer on House of Cards and In Treatment to the table. Cry Wolf will be her first time back at the helm of a show since The Affair came to an end back in 2019.
What Else Does Shawn Hatosy Have on the Horizon Besides ‘Cry Wolf’?
There’s no indication when Hatosy will start shooting for Cry Wolf, but it is known when he’ll scrub in again for another round of The Pitt. Season 2 of the smash-hit medical drama, set within the emergency room of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, will debut on January 8, 2026, exactly one year from the day when Noah Wyle and his team started their chaotic first shift. Notably, he’ll also be jumping behind the camera to direct an episode for once. Not content with just the small screen, though, on April 10, Hatosy is joining a star-studded cast headlined by Samara Weaving and Sarah Michelle Gellar for the much-anticipated sequel to Radio Silence‘s beloved horror comedy, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.
