‘Fallout’ Season 2: New Clip Takes Lucy and the Ghoul to an Iconic New Vegas Location!! Check It Out!!

On the way to Fallout Season 2’s premiere in less than two weeks, Lucy (Ella Purnell) and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) are making a humorous pit stop at a location that fans of Fallout: New Vegas might recognize. A new sneak peek at the video game adaptation’s return sees the vault dweller turned wastelander standing in the jaws of Dinky the T-Rex, a roadside landmark in Novac that also once served as the lookout of beloved sharpshooter Craig Boone. The beret-wearing companion is nowhere to be seen, but Lucy is carrying on his spirit and preparing to try her hand at sniping to save the Ghoul. However, things don’t go exactly according to plan when her “Okey-dokey” attitude takes over.

In the sneak peek, The Ghoul has been captured by a group of thugs eager to have his head, seemingly sentencing him to death by hanging for all the violence he’s wrought throughout his years in the wasteland. However, it’s all part of a plan the irradiated bounty hunter and Lucy had to trick the group out of their caps. Unfortunately, Lucy completely spoils the scheme when she appears in the mouth of Dinky, rifle in hand, and instead proceeds to explain the situation to the gang’s leader rather than actually shooting the desperately struggling Ghoul down. She tries a little bit of good old-fashioned kindness and presents a different plan that doesn’t involve the pair violently shooting their way out of the darkly comedic scenario, but instead involves everyone peacefully walking away. There’s little chance the thugs are going to let them just walk away with their bounty of caps, though, even if she says “please.”

Novac is just one stop on Lucy and the Ghoul’s journey in Season 2. After their confrontation with Lucy’s father, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), in the Season 1 finale, the unlikely duo formed a truce to chase down the Vault-Tec executive to get answers and bring him to justice. Their main destination is the jewel of the Mojave Wasteland, New Vegas, controlled by the enigmatic Robert House (Justin Theroux). With much of the series unfolding in and around the city, the show is embracing more lore and factions than ever from Fallout: New Vegas, like Caesar’s Legion and the Kings, the latter of whom are now ghouls. Perhaps most frightening of all, however, is the promise of Death Claws, the apex predator of the wasteland that’s been spotted in the trailers.

‘Fallout’ Season 2 Is Only the Beginning of The Show’s Plans to Link With the Games

While Season 2 looks to go bigger, bolder, and darker, not only exploring the personal stakes for Lucy and the Ghoul but a wider-scale conflict brewing around the Mojave, additions like Novac are only the first steps in linking Fallout with its source material. Producer James Altman hinted in an interview with SFX Magazine that the team absolutely wants to pull more from the games, though he couldn’t give any teases as to what or who could appear in the show’s future. “Sure, we’re holding back a ton of stuff from the games – but I don’t know if I want to say what they are, because that would hint at where we hope to go in the future,” he said. Season 3 has already been ordered, so they’ll have plenty of space to include whatever they want for Lucy, the Ghoul, and Maximus’s (Aaron Moten) next adventure.

Fallout Season 2 premieres on December 17. Check out the new sneak peek in the player above.
