It’s starting to look like Vision may not be as dead as we thought. With The Multiverse Saga barreling toward its finale, WandaVision star Paul Bettany has strongly hinted that the long-lost Avenger could return to the big screen in Avengers: Secret Wars — the event film set to cap off Phase 6 and reshape the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It would be Bettany‘s first appearance in 5 years, since vanishing at the end of WandaVision

Speaking candidly in a recent interview, Bettany let slip a line that sent Marvel fans scrambling:

“I think I’ve got some Avengers duties next year.”

He added that contrary to popular belief, Marvel actors aren’t sitting on piles of secret scripts — joking,

“It’s not like I’m turning down Alfonso Cuarón to go and do Marvel movies – Alfonso Cuarón just hasn’t called.”

Who Else Will Be in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’?

While Bettany hasn’t been officially announced as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast (the film wrapped principal photography in September 2025), his comment lines up perfectly with Marvel Studios’ production timeline as production on Secret Wars will begin next summer.

If confirmed, Vision’s return would place him alongside another recently revealed comeback: Letitia Wright, who told ScreenRant that Secret Wars is her next Marvel project. These returning veterans are expected to play key roles in what Marvel President Kevin Feige has described not as a reboot, but as a reset of the franchise.

“Reboot is a scary word… Reset, singular timeline — we’re thinking along those lines.”

Bettany will also officially return in Vision Quest, the third and final installment of the WandaVision trilogy on Disney+. The series reunites audiences with the post-WandaVision iteration of the character, but for now, the release date remains under wraps. How that plays into Secret Wars is obviously a big question mark right now.

As for Secret Wars, the cast is still largely under lock and key. So far, only a few confirmed names have broken through — including the bombshell revelation that Robert Downey Jr. will appear as Doctor Doom, not Tony Stark. More announcements are expected as production draws closer, especially given Marvel’s approach with Avengers: Doomsday, where casting arrived in clusters leading up to filming.
