‘The Rescue’: Hassie Harrison Set to Join Brandon Sklenar in Paramount’s New Western Thriller!!

The past and present of Taylor Sheridan‘s Yellowstone franchise are about to collide in a modern western thriller at Paramount. A new report confirmed that Hassie Harrison, who appeared as the barrel racer Laramie across the final three seasons of the wildly popular flagship series, has signed on to join 1923 star Brandon Sklenar in the new film The Rescue from Old Henry helmer Potsy Ponciroli. The title has been a high priority ever since it was first announced under Skydance before its landscape-shifting merger with Paramount was underway. Filming is slated to begin sometime next summer.

Finer details of The Rescue are being kept under wraps at this time, but the premise centers on a rodeo cowboy who’s forced to put his skills to the test outside the arena with real stakes riding on his shoulders. Its modern-day setting, however, should make it more akin to Yellowstone and familiar ground for Hasson. The film is written by John Fusco, perhaps best known for penning the classic Emilio Estevez western ensemble Young Guns and the Matt Damon-starring animated film Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Shannon Houchins and Cliff Roberts are also producing alongside Ponciroli.

Ponciroli gets the privilege of directing one of the first projects to be greenlit under David Ellison‘s new Paramount-Skydance regime. He enters The Rescue fresh off directing another buzzy television star, Reacher lead Alan Ritchson, in the dialogue-less action thriller Motor City, which world premiered at the Venice Film Festival and is set for release next year. Sklenar is another big name for the filmmaker to team up with, coming off of 1923 Season 2, Drop, and Green and Gold, with The Housemaid coming next week and also featuring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney. He also has a reunion with Sheridan on the horizon in F.A.S.T., the action thriller flick that the Yellowstone giant penned.

Where Else Has Harrison Appeared of Late?

After wrapping up Yellowstone Season 5, Harrison has been fairly busy herself. Her biggest role of late came opposite Jai Courtney in the acclaimed horror film Dangerous Animals, though she’s also landed a couple of comedic appearances on television in It’s Florida, Man and Tires. As of 2023, she had also wrapped up her longtime role on Tacoma FD. With her schedule freeing up, she now has a few more irons in the fire, with the most notable, aside from The Rescue, being Raven. Directed by Tom Sierchio, the starry crime thriller will feature her alongside MCU star Anthony Mackie and Halo alum Pablo Schreiber, alongside Ben Foster, Ron Livingston, and Dash Mihok.

The Rescue will get underway next summer.
