‘The Death of Robin Hood’: First Images Reveal an Unrecognizable Hugh Jackman!! Check It Out!!

While Amazon MGM+’s adaptation of Robin Hood continues to dominate streaming, a new, unconventional retelling of the classic myth just got an exciting first look. Entertainment Weekly has previewed the first three images from Hugh Jackman’s 2026 film, The Death of Robin Hood, which is expected to be released in theaters before the end of 2026. The film co-stars Bill Skarsgård (IT: Welcome to Derry) and Jodie Comer (28 Years Later), who also feature in a pair of new images alongside Jackman. The film is directed by Michael Sarnoski, who worked on Pig (Nicolas Cage) and A Quiet Place: Day One (Joseph Quinn).

Jackman also spoke to EW for the story, and he was asked what sets his Robin Hood apart from other iterations, like MGM+’s new remake or Russell Crowe’s 2010 film. “What I love so much about Mike’s vision of Robin Hood is that the script delivered power, and it examines how power can be used for good or bad,” he said. Continuing, “Robin Hood is a real man in our story. With all the scars, the pain, the regret, and yes, the love. Mike’s story has weight to it. For me, it’s beautiful and human.”

Sarnoski also teased a very different version of Robin Hood than what fans have seen before. “You can be as familiar with earlier versions as you want, but you’ll be carried along to understand what this version is, because the performances are so specific and so different from what you’ve seen before… He was this murderous outlaw who did a lot of terrible things, but he’s lived long enough to see this folklore get created about him,” he finished.

What Other Movies Does Hugh Jackman Have in the Works?

Hugh Jackman’s next movie is coming to theaters in less than 10 days. He’ll star alongside Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue, a musical biopic following a couple who double as a Neil Diamond cover band. Jackman has also been tapped to star alongside Emma Thompson in Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Story, which will be released in theaters on May 8, 2026. There has been no official announcement about Jackman’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, but fans would be surprised if he didn’t have any kind of role in either film.
