‘Tomb Raider’: Jason Isaacs Joins Sophie Turner led Prime Video Series!!

Prime Video‘s new Tomb Raider TV series has just unearthed a new cast member. Venerable cinematic villain Jason Isaacs will be joining Phoebe Waller-Bridge‘s new video game adaptation. The series is set to begin production in 2026.

What Do We Know About Prime Video’s ‘Tomb Raider’ Series?

An adaptation of the long-running video game franchise, the series will follow aristocratic archeologist Lara Croft through a series of thrilling and death-defying adventures as she faces threats both supernatural and all-too human. Croft will be played by Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner, and Sigourney Weaver will also star in the series in an unspecified role. The series will be written and showrun by Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, as part of her overall deal with Amazon. The series lingered in development Hell for a number of years after the screen rights to the franchise lapsed following Croft’s latest big-screen adventure, but production has ramped up in recent months, and the series is slated to begin production on January 19, 2026. The character was previously adapted into two live-action films starring Angelina Jolie in the title role, and one with Alicia Vikander; an animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, starring Hayley Atwell, recently debuted its second and final season on Netflix.

Waller-Bridge will co-showrun Tomb Raider with Chad Hodge (Wayward Pines). Jonathan Van Tulleken (Dope Thief) will direct and executive produce. The show is also executive produced by Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Productions; Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson through Story Kitchen; Michael Scheel; and Hodge.
