‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2 Gets New Image!! Check It Out!!

The return of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is right around the corner, and Netflix has released a new image from Season 2 to help hold fans over. This new image provides another clear look at a much older Gordon Cormier as Aang in Season 2, which will see Toph join the Avatar’s Aang gang. Toph is Aang’s earthbending teacher who agrees to leave her rich family in the city and travel along the road to teach the Avatar his most challenging element. As a natural-born Airbender, Aang finds it difficult to learn earthbending, but that makes his ultimate mastery of the element all the more satisfying.

Netflix has still not announced an official return date for the second season of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series, but it has been confirmed to premiere sometime this year. The show has even been renewed for Season 3, and while it took over two years between the first and second seasons, it’s a safe bet that the wait between Seasons 2 and 3 will be much shorter. Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3 has already wrapped filming before the premiere of Season 2, so it will likely debut on Netflix sometime in 2027. The show will not receive a fourth season.

When Netflix released the first look at Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 late last year, fans were quick to notice how much older Aang looks. The actor who portrays the Avatar looks significantly older in Season 2, and it’s unclear if Netflix will explain this away with a time jump or ignore it entirely. A time jump isn’t factored into the animated series, so it would be a departure from the source material to shift timelines.

In addition to two more full seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender, fans also have two new projects to look forward to set in the same beloved universe. A sequel movie titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will be released on Paramount+ later this year, and it will follow the Aang gang several years after the events of The Last Airbender Season 3. Paramount is also working on a new project following the Earthbending Avatar after Korra, which will feature new characters and a new story. It’s unclear what it will be titled or when it will be released.
