‘Recovery Agent’: Gal Gadot to Lead Paramount’s New Adventurous Action Movie!!

Gal Gadot may have found her next big action-adventure flick a la Tomb Raider. Per a new report, DC‘s former Wonder Woman is attached to potentially lead an adaptation of Janet Evanovich‘s wildly popular Recovery Agent series of novels after Paramount Pictures acquired the books for feature development. Gadot is also set to produce alongside her partner Jaron Varsano through their Pilot Wave banner, joining Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz under their Carol Mendelsohn Productions. If it comes to fruition, the project will mark her latest big starring vehicle and a reunion with Skydance after they previously backed her Netflix action epic Heart of Stone.

The Recovery Agent books follow the titular Gabriela Rose, a treasure hunter of sorts whose specialty is traveling the globe to retrieve lost or stolen high-value items. Often, it means venturing headfirst into danger, from tropical islands to international hotspots and beyond. Reluctantly accompanied by her unpredictable ex-husband and partner, Rafer Burke, she takes jobs from companies and other wealthy individuals who seek to get their hands on ancient treasures, heirlooms, and other assets, working to beat law enforcement, criminals, and other treasure hunters to the punch to reach her target.

Presumably, Paramount‘s film would start with the first book in the series, which takes Gabriela on a more personal mission to save her family’s home. To do so, she ventures to the jungles of Peru to find the fabled Ring of Solomon and the lost treasure of Cortez. Rafer, however, has the map and refuses to let her reach the treasure without him accompanying her, forcing the former couple to put their differences aside and combine their skills to retrieve the ring from under the nose of a ruthless drug lord hell-bent on taking it for himself. The Recovery Agent kicked off the series in 2022 and was followed by The King’s Ransom in 2025, both of which became almost instant New York Times bestsellers. They’re just the latest successes for Evanovich, who has an eye-watering 46 bestsellers to her name and over 200 million books worldwide. It’s been a minute since the last time her work last appeared on the screen, though, with her 1994 novel One for the Money being adapted into the 2013 caper starring Katherine Heigl.

What Else Has Gadot Been Busy With?

Gadot comes aboard The Recovery Agent after a divisive 2025, where she most notably starred in Disney‘s live-action Snow White remake, led by Rachel Zegler. The latest entry of the Mouse House’s new spins on their old classics was widely rejected by audiences, earning only $205.7 million at the box office and failing to impress the critics and viewers who did see it. She’s also coming off Julian Schnabel‘s crime thriller In the Hand of Dante, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and saw her work alongside Oscar Isaac, Gerard Butler, and Jason Momoa, among others. Next on the docket for her isKevin Macdonald‘s upcoming action thriller The Runner, casting her as a London-based lawyer pulled into a city-wide chase to save her son from his abductors.
